Last Light Edit

FOUNDER STORY

A LETTER TO YNYS MÔN - ANGLESEY

The place where Last Light Edit began before I knew it had begun.

DEAR ANGLESEY,

I’m not entirely sure how I found you.

In 2013, my father died. There was the grief itself, but also everything surrounding it. The funeral. The arrangements. Sorting through a lifetime of possessions when all I really wanted was a little time to stop.

I needed to get away. I could have gone anywhere, but for some reason I was drawn to Anglesey on a cold wet & windy October night.

Very early the following morning, the rain had stopped, but the wind hadn't, I went looking for a nearby beach I had seen on a map.

I walked onto the sand and there was nobody else to be seen. Just me, the wind and the Irish Sea.

A log had washed onto the beach, so I sat down and looked across the water. Then something happened that I have never really been able to explain.

For the first time in weeks, everything went quiet.

The worry. The grief. The things I had done and the things I still had to do.

For a little while, all of it simply washed away.

I felt at peace, something told me ..

I’M HOME.

I've returned to Anglesey again and again. I have made wonderful friends, walked its beaches, watched storms, and seen sunsets I will never forget.

Anglesey became the place where my soul lived.

Thirteen years after that first morning, after visting Porth Trwyn many times, this time it was with Linda. Somewhere along the way, it had become our beach.

We sat there for hours, talked, cooked a couple of steaks and watched the sun disappear over the Irish Sea.

That evening, I finally understood what I wanted Last Light Edit to be.

It had not truly been born when I came up with the name.

It had been born on Porth Trwyn on a cold morning 1st Nov 2013.

Last Light Edit

A clothing brand inspired by beaches, coastlines, weather, pub walks, dog walks, changing skies and those moments when we stop doing and simply start being.

Not about conquering the outdoors, but finding something within it: adventure, perspective, or simply a bit of peace and quiet.

Thank you, Anglesey.

For the friendships. For the memories. For Linda and I.

For looking after me when I've needed it most.

And, of course, for Last Light Edit.

I’m home, We’re home .. welcome to it

Martin and Linda xx
